Blaik's Kingdom Chapter 2

Chapter 2: The Building of Syrain’s Army

Unc Leaves grow on Unc Trees
Unc Trees capture a deadly breeze
A deadly breeze to put you at ease
Unc Leaves make the knees freeze
Unc Leaves make a sleepy disease
Unc Leaves to put you at ease

How can a child’s nursery rhyme have such a dark meaning? Do the children remain innocent while singing about an illegal drug? The song is very accurate. Unc Leaves do grow on Unc Trees. The deadly breeze? Unc Leaves emit a strong odor of incense. When a wind catches the tree, the aroma reeks so strong that it slowly kills all other surrounding plant life. If a human is near an Unc Tree, it slowly numbs the nerves, causing the human’s knees to freeze. If an Unc Leaf is inhaled directly, you slowly lose all consciousness, a sleepy disease to put you at ease.

Blaik could hear a thousand young children singing the nursery rhyme over and over in his head. The words slowly started to change, as the voices meshed into one wretched voice.

“I rule, and everyone else in the universe is horrible association!” it sang.

As Blaik’s mind crawled out of a haze, the voice became ever more familiar. Even though Blaik was unable to open his eyes, he knew exactly who was singing; a wicked queen from a far off planet,

“Victoriama, why are you in my kingdom?” Blaik mumbled.

“Oh, so you’ve awaken,” Victoriama said. “Did you enjoy your little nap?”

“I-I was captured by someone, but I have no idea who it was, and I can’t open my eyes,” Blaik said.

“When Syrain said ‘Unc Leaves will knock him out,’ she was not joking.” Victoriama said as she chuckled with an evil smile.

“What are you talking about?” Blaik asked.

“Mums the word,” Victoriama answered. “Mikeez told me that I dare not tell you what is going on.  I just need to make sure you don’t go anywhere.”

“Mikeez?” Blaik asked. “I thought her and her family died eight years ago.”

“Well you’re a dumb boy so you don’t know that Syrain has created an army and Mikeez is the leader. Oh, and Madilk and Azrat are still alive. The only one that really died was Mitch,” Victoriama quickly spilled.

“Hello Blaik,” a girl said from behind Victoriama. She was covered in black clothes. Her long black hair framed her freckled face. She slowly walked closer to Victoriama until their faces nearly touched. “I told Syrain you were a bad secret keeper. If it were up to me, I would leave you chained on your planet to rot.”

“I hate you more than words can explain,” Victoriama said. “If you resided on my planet, I would have you arrested for not wearing pink. The color black offends me. You are bad association!”

As they were arguing, Blaik slowly forced his eyes open. His vision was blurred, but he was able to make out shadows. “Mikeez?” Blaik asked.

“Hello Blaik. Long time no see,” Mikeez said. “Have you been well these past eight years?”

“What happened to you? I thought you died with your family. What happened to your blonde locks? You have changed much since we were young,” Blaik said.

“I figure black suits me better,” Mikeez said. “But now is not the time for catching up. Now I must explain to you what you are here for. I remember liking you, so I’ll be blunt. Syrain formed an army three years ago, an army that assassinates kings or queens from different planets to take over their kingdoms.”

“What?!” Blaik yelled.

“Do not raise your voice with me!” Mikeez ordered. “Listen, you are an old friend, and I don’t want to kill you-”

“Then don’t!” Blaik interrupted.

“If it were that simple, I wouldn’t kill you,” Mikeez reasoned, “but it isn’t that simple. I didn’t want to help kill… never mind. Since you are an old friend, I will let you go, but only this once.”

“Well you obviously have the intention of killing me,” Blaik said, “so why not now?”

“Yeah! Why not!?” Victoriama asked.

“Because Syrain… I will leave the killing up to Syrain,” Mikeez explained. “Victoriama, untie Blaik.”

“Yes ma’am,” Victoriama said, and walked her thin body over to the chair Blaik was tied to. Her long skinny fingers untied the ropes as Mikeez continued to talk.

“Why are you doing this Mikeez?” Blaik asked. “Do you really want to go through with all of this?”

Mikeez ignored the question. “Expect war Blaik.” She scratched her face and revealed a scar on her left cheek. She pulled a red cloth out of her pocket. “Wear this cloth to cover your eyes. Someone will escort you out, Your Majesty.”

Mikeez tied the cloth around Blaik’s head.

Darkness. Everything has such an eerie feel in the dark. Complete darkness is a feeling of vulnerability. Vulnerable in the home of an enemy.

Victoriama lead Blaik to a door, where a small hand took Blaik’s hand.

“Hello Blaik,” a small voice with a British accent said.

As soon as he heard the voice, Blaik knew it was Madilk, a leprechaun, and also sister to Mikeez. “Hello Madilk,” Blaik replied.

They walked a few steps, and Blaik heard a voice from his left yell, “Madilk! What are you doing?”

“Mikeez ordered me to lead Blaik out,” Madilk replied.

“Or are you a trader?” the voice asked.

“Go ask Mikeez yourself,” Madilk said. “She’s in the interrogation room.”

“Fine,” the voice said, “I’ll go right over there n- oomph!”

“How do you trip when nothing is there to trip you?” Madilk teased.

“Gaineb?” Blaik asked. “You haven’t changed a bit. Still always tripping all the time.”

“Shut up!” Gaineb yelled. He lifted himself up and punched Blaik in the stomach. “What’s wrong? You can’t fight back?”

Blaik coughed. “I refuse to retaliate in an unnecessary situation.”

“That’s why your kingship will fail. But as for me, I will be king of the greatest kingdom in the universe!” Gaineb exclaimed.

“What makes you so sure Syrain will appoint you as the ruler of Kryo?” Madilk asked.

“Because she loves me,” Gaineb said with a hint of pride in his tone. He punched Blaik in the stomach once more. “See you around you worthless piece of life.” Gaineb angrily walked off into a room and threw a chair to a wall.

“That’s where Gaineb is wrong,” a voice said in front of Blaik and Madilk.

“What do you want Logmar?” Madilk asked in an irritated voice.

“I wanted to make sure Blaik knows who is taking over his kingdom,” Logmar said.

“So that was you,” Blaik said. “You were the one who drugged me.”

“That’s right,” Logmar said. “And I did it because you sister, Syrain, is in love with me and will make me King!”

“Well I think both you and Gaineb are wrong,” Madilk said.

“Oh what do you know you little leprechaun?” Logmar asked.

“If you ask me, it seems logical that she will make Nik the King. You know Blaik, your best friend,” Madilk explained.

“You are out of your mind,” Blaik said. “None of my friends would ever join your army.”

“Do you really think Nik would choose you over his own brother?” Madilk asked with a chuckle.

“What are you talking about?” Blaik asked. “Dann died last year from a stunt accident.”

“Did he?” Madilk asked rhetorically. “You might want to hear all the facts before you assume things.”

“Dann is dead. It happened right before my eyes.” Blaik said.

“But did you see his body afterward?” Logmar asked. “Syrain was the only one to see Dann’s body after the accident. Haven’t you every heard the Myth of the Great Stunt Man? The greatest stunt is to swallow a poisoned leaf. and remain unconscious until something truly evil kisses them.”

“The only way to wake up from a Poisoned Leaf is to be kissed by something truly evil,” Madilk included.

“Are you saying Syrain is truly evil?” Blaik hesitated to ask, afraid for an answer.

“I’m saying Syrain convinced Dann into doing the stunt,” Logmar smiled.

“Don’t you think that if Nik finds out his close brother is still alive, he would join us instantly?” Madilk asked. “Now come on! I must get you out of here before Mikeez has my head.”

“Wait,” Blaik said. “How are you communicating with Syrain? It is completely impossible.”

“You would have to ask Mikeez,” Madilk said. “I’ve never spoken to her. Now let’s get a move on!”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After an hour of walking, Madilk and Blaik stopped to rest.

“My feet are throbbing,” Madilk said. “How about you?”

“I’ve walked for longer periods of time before,” Blaik replied.

“You haven’t said a word this whole time that we have walked,” Madilk said.

“I’m blind folded, being lead by an evil leprechaun, and I just found out overwhelming news,” Blaik said.

“Listen,” Madilk said, “I know I have a reputation as an evil leprechaun, but I’m not all evil. I actually feel bad for you.”

          Blaik stayed silent.

“Well, let’s keep moving then,” Madilk said.

Madilk and Blaik continued to walk until Blaik could
see sunlight sneaking through his blind fold. Madilk walked him into the same forest where Blaik was captured the night before. They stopped, and Madilk untied the blind fold. It had been a long time since Blaik could see, so he squinted, letting the sunlight creep up on him little by little. He was surrounded in a blur of green.

When his eyes were fully opened, Madilk was gone. A note was left on a leaf by Blaik’s foot. It read: Prepare for war.

Blaik gazed up at the sun and could tell it was late afternoon. His heart was heavy from the overwhelming day. He knew he had to tell Aimee everything right away. She always gave him great advice. But seeing as mermaids are nocturnal, he decided to visit his other best friend, Nik Sanoj.

90210 Season 6?

Hey guys!

I have been a fan of both Beverly Hills, 90210 and the remake 90210. The original series made it through ten seasons, which is such a huge accomplishment in the world of TV. While the remake hasn't been nearly as popular as the original show, the plots, characters, and fashion is amazing! I personally love 90210 and am very proud that the show has made it to 5 seasons and reached the milestone of 100 episodes on December 3, 2012. However, there is much speculation that the show might be reaching its end very soon.

This past weekend, Mark Pedowitz, President of the CW network, was interviewed at the Television Critics Association press tour. When asked about 90210, this is what he had to say:
"I’m a big believer in giving fans, as you can tell by what we did for One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl, of giving fans a very satisfactory conclusion between a retrospective and a satisfactory ending. It's something that we as a television industry need to do."

I completely agree with that statement in general. I love that the CW endeavors to give fans a good ending to a show. That is something that I wish other networks would do, particularly FOX. The show Reunion (2006) just ended with a huge cliffhanger! And Terra Nova did the exact same thing. So I must give the CW credit for pleasing their fans. But I am sad that his statement was in connection with 90210. And I am not alone.

Since this statement was made, people have been blowing up fan sites with rumors that season 5 will be the final season, or that there will be a short 6th season. And the majority of people are not happy with this! Gossip Girl ended with a short 6th season, which  was good because there was not much more to be done with the characters. It seemed to be the same story line again and again. But with 90210, there is so much more to be explored with the characters!

I think there are a few problems with the show that could easily be fixed. So Lara Olsen and Patti Car (executive producers), listen up!

The first problem is the drama. The show's ratings were highest in the second season when there was so much drama between the main characters. Although it is nice as a long time fan to see everyone getting along, I think that if there were drama among the main characters again, then the show would be much more entertaining. Those intense moments between Annie and Naomi (seasons 1 and 2), Silver and Adriana (seasons 3 and 4) and Navid and Teddy (season 2), those moments are the memorable ones. So bring back the backstabbing- at least for a little while.

Another problem is the fast pace of the show. The past two seasons have been very fast paced regards story lines, which makes it a little unrealistic. Rebecca Sinclair (former executive producer) did a fantastic job with making the pace realistic. The way that the characters fall in and out of love so fast is not something that I enjoy. It is fun to watch someone fall in love, and then also to see their heartbreak at a realistic, relatable pace.

One aspect that I have really enjoyed with this current season is the recycling of old characters. In the season 5 premiere, Debby (played by Lori Loughlin) made a very necessary return. In the episode "902-100", Jasper (played by Zachary Ray Sherman) and Emily (played by Abbie Cobb) returned. It was exciting to see what these characters have been up to since their departures. And everyone is looking forward to the return of Ty Collins (played by Adam Gregory) later this month. All of the fans like seeing the old characters, so keep up the good work in that regard. My suggestion is to try to bring back characters from the original series again. In the first season Tori Spelling, Shannen Doherty, and Jennie Garth all returned. Bring them back again for another episode or two, along with the other original cast members like Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, and Gabrielle Carteris.

Other than that, my only suggestion is to bring Sean Faris on as a regular cast member. I  can see him being a good love interest for Naomi, because honestly, I don't like her with anyone on the show at this point. And also bring Grey Damon on the show. I think he would be good. And they are both actors who have been on other CW shows, so I'm sure it would work out well.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments section below. And don't forget to take the poll to the right. If you don't watch 90210, then check it out this Monday at 9:00 p.m. on the CW.

Blaik's Kingdom Chapter 1

Chapter 1: The Rise of a Young King

All of Kryo was mourning the death of the great King Hergyo. Hergyo's fifteen year old son, Blaik, now had to take on the responsibilities of a king.  The death of his father had him overwhelmed with feelings of despair, guilt, and shame.

“Everything will be alright,” Syrain, Blaik’s twin sister, said.

“I can’t help but feel like it’s my fault,” Blaik replied. “I mean, if I hadn’t gone to Mer Lake, he might still be alive.”

“It isn’t your fault Blaik,” Syrain comforted. “You couldn’t have changed his heart conditions. Besides, if you were there, you wouldn’t have been able to get to a Xlair in time to save him.”

“I suppose you are right,” Blaik said. “I just don’t know how I’m going to take care of this entire kingdom by myself.”

“Well,” Syrain started, “if you would like, I could take care of the kingdom. After all, I am more of a stay-at-palace kind of a girl. You on the other hand like to go out and socialize with your friends, like what you were doing when father died.”

“That’s true,” Blaik said. “But I know father would want me to take his place.”

“If you insist,” Syrain hesitated to say. “Although, father didn’t die on my watch.”

“What!?” Blaik shouted. “Y-you just said it wasn’t my fault.”

“Oh, Blaik, I was merely trying to cheer you up. But let’s be honest here, it was somewhat your fault.” Syrain said straight faced.

“NO! YOU ARE LYING!!!” Blaik yelled.

“Everyone agrees with me, and you aren’t able to bear it anymore, are you?”

“LOCK YOUR LIPS!” Blaik screamed with tears racing down his cheeks.

“I honestly believe you don’t deserve all of father’s precious land. It should be all mine!” Syrain exclaimed. She pulled a dagger out from under her black dress. “It will be all mine!”

          “Guards!” Blaik yelled.

The guards arrived in time to save Blaik from a tragic death. Syrain was arrested and sent to the Endless Dungeon of Darkness. While she was being dragged in she promised she would be avenged.

Many months later, Syrain's prophecy began to unfold. All of her former companions seemed to disappear. Blaik sensed something wrong, so he went to Mer Lake to get advice from a friend.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Blaik walked to the edge of the lake. He got down to his knees. “Aimee, are you there?” Blaik whispered to the water.

A tail covered in red scales came to the surface of the lake, then disappeared into the dark water. A young girl's head emerged from the water and approached Blaik. “Good morning Blaik,” she said.

“It’s evening,” Blaik corrected. “I am not nocturnal like you mermaids, remember? Anyway, I need some of your advice, Aimee.”

Aimee used her webbed fingers to brush her brown hair out of her face. “What can I help you with?”

“Remember when Syrain went into the dungeon yelling she would be avenged?” Blaik asked.

          “Yes,” Aimee replied.

“Well I’ve noticed all of her friends have been disappearing, and I sense something horrible might come upon us,” Blaik explained.

“I see,” Aimee said brushing her hair out of her face, “but I don’t think you have anything to worry about.”

“Why?”

“You are an amazing king,” Aimee said. “For example, you are the first king to have peaceful relations with mermaids.”

“But I was your friend before I was appointed king,” Blaik debated.

“Well, you’re only fifteen, and you’ve taken over the entire kingdom of Kryo,” Aimee fired back.

“True,” Blaik agreed, “and plus, you are the fastest swimmer in the universe, so I can always count on you if an enemy goes into the water.”

“As long as it’s at night, when I’m awake. You also have the fastest runner in the universe on your side,” Aimee added. "How is Nik by the way?"

“Didn’t you hear that Nik broke his leg?” asked Blaik.

“He did?” Aimee asked aghast. “Is he alright?”

“Yes. A Xlair came to his aid in time, so he received medical treatment,” Blaik told Aimee. “He can’t walk on it for about three weeks. I feel guilty because I haven’t been able to visit him yet.”

“He’ll understand,” Aimee reassured him. “Being a king isn’t an easy job.”

“Tell me about it,” Blaik said and yawned. “I’m getting tired. I think I should return to the palace and rest for the night.”

“Ok,” Aimee said, brushing the hair out of her face. “Goodnight for you…”

“…And good morning for you! I shall see you later,” Blaik said and walked toward a forest under a full moon.

As Blaik reached the woods, he felt as if he were being followed. Every once in a while he would check his surroundings to see if any creatures were following him. These parts of the woods freak me out, Blaik thought to his self. He saw a shadow run behind a bush in the corner of his eye. “Hello! Is anyone there?”

“I’m sorry Your Majesty,” a voice said from behind Blaik.

Blaik turned around and squinted as the shadow became increasingly familiar. “Logmar?”

“Sweetest of dreams, Your Majesty,” the voice said while putting an Unc Leaf on Blaik’s mouth. Blaik fell unconscious.

Blaik's Kingdom Prologue

Prologue

Blaik was trapped in the dungeon. His own adviser had betrayed him, a fate Blaik would never see coming, but trust is the most cunning poison in the universe.

Now who’s at the bottom of the chain?” Syrain asked Blaik in a wicked voice. “Bow to me!”

“I would never bow down to something so evil,” Blaik replied.

“Oh, but you will,” Syrain said. “Just as all of your subjects, and even worse, all of your friends have!”

        “LIES!” Blaik yelled.

“It’s so adorable how you think that, but the truth is, they all have,” Syrain taunted. “Now I'm going to leave you while I rule this kingdom. Enjoy the unending suffering that you deserve.”

“Syrain,” Blaik started, “I didn’t mean for you to suffer! I am so sorry for what happened to you.”

“Spare me,” Syrain said. “I will never forget the way they treated me... and it’s all because of you!” Syrain began to cry.

“I didn’t mean for that to happen!” Blaik protested.

Syrain lifted her head as she stared Blaik directly in the eyes. Her tear-stained face emitted an aura of harsh resentment. “Well know this,” Syrain started, “I mean for all of this suffering to fall upon you.”

“Don’t you think this war has caused enough suffering on everyone!?” Blaik yelled.

Syrain chuckled and yelled “No!” as she stormed out of the dungeon to let Blaik suffer an eternity…
